Netcat


Netcat is a tool that is widely used by hackers. Its popularity can be seen from the results of a survey of more than 1000 users of Nmap in 2000 and 2003 which put him on the order of the Top 5, which is ranked second in 2000 and ranked fourth in 2003.

These tools are often referred to as "TCP / IP Swiss Army Knife" of his hackers. Original version written for the Unix operating system by Hobbit (hobbit@avian.org) in 1995. Windows NT version done by Weld Pond (weld@l0pth.com).

Features of netcat include:

* Can helps to build Outbound and inbound connections to TCP or UDP, in and from which ports.
* Can read command line arguments from standard input
* Full DNS forwarding / reverse checking
* The ability to use any local source port
* The ability to use any locally-configured network source address
* Available ports are built-in scanning
* And others

With the above features, a lot of hackers and systems managers use to do these things as follows:

* Scanning ports and menginventori the services installed on the server
* File transfer
* Testing and simulation of the server
* Tests on the firewall, proxy and gateway
* Test network performance
* Testing address spoofing
* Banner grabbing
Some of the features and use netcat will be explained below. But we must always remind you, do not ever try netcat capabilities in computer systems that do not own your own!
